![]() OCTOBER IN REVIEW Late September and October make up one of the slowest periods for the Japanese market as kids get back to school following the summer break. Once we collect all the stars in Mario Galaxy, we're buying a crate of these and sending them to Nintendo. This would put Galaxy's first week total at the level of Mario Sunshine. Mario Party pulled similar numbers, then went on to sell 300,000 in its first week. The question is, does Mario have any chance of selling on Nintendo's Wii Sports adapter? Early sales reports from a retailer blog suggest first day sales of 130,000 units. After just thirty minutes of playtime, Nintendo had made up for a year of GameCube ports and had almost justified charging $250 for dated hardware. It didn't take too long for us to figure out that this is the best game to come out of Japan so far this year. THE GREATEST PLATFORMER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD Yes, despite a downright disrespectful tendency towards releasing major games and product first in America, Nintendo threw its home territory a bone surrounded by a tender lamb chop this week with a priority release of Super Mario Galaxy. ![]() ![]() Before judging, ask yourself if you would spend hours processing commercials, translating magazines, and hunting down box art when you could be playing. ![]()
